This floor or table lamp measures 34 cm high & has a diameter of 15 cm. The design which weaves its way around the shade contains many elements traditionally associated with Japanese culture, cherry blossom, iris & bamboo. - Chiyogami is a hand silk-screened paper from Japan. It has long fibres making it a super flexible material. Many of the designs come from traditional Kimono motifs. - The paper has a translucent quality making it ideal for lampshades & lamps. As light passes through it the beautiful colours glow creating a stained glass effect. The shade takes on a different appearance in your home from day to night. - Every sheet of Chiyogami is hand printed, each colour being applied separately. This artisan technique is competing in the modern world with machine production however it holds its own as far as the finished product is concerned, the quality is much finer. - I make the lamps myself in my small studio in Yorkshire.
